Today’s post is my review of the Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour palette! Before I hop into the review, please check out my new Instagram (@marielelena_) for makeup photos, blog announcements and more.
I recently purchased this palette in hopes of a great contour palette with both cool and warm toned bronzers. It retails for $46 and can be found at Sephora and the Kat Von D website. I am happy to say that I love this contour kit, and it was worth every penny!
The Shade and Light palette comes with three highlight shades: Lucid, Lyric, and Levitation, and three bronzers: Sombre, Shadowplay, and Subconscious. All the bronzers are extremely pigmented, as are the highlight shades. My favorite highlighting powder is Lyric and my favorite contour shade is Sombre. I find that those two look best with my fair skintone. I also like using Lyric as a powder and brow bone highlight.
The packaging is very sturdy and sleek, with a detailed black and white label on the front of the palette. There is a good sized mirror inside, and the palette closes with a magnet. All the shades are also written on the back of the palette for easy reference later on. The highlights are 0.08 oz and the bronzers are 0.16 oz. In my opinion, this palette is a steal considering the large amount of product you receive for only $46!

Today I am reviewing the Too Faced Boudoir Eyes palette! I purchased this palette in December, so I have been playing around with it enough to have a sense of each of the shades and write an accurate review. Too Faced Boudoir Eyes retails for $36 and can be found at Sephora, Ulta, and the Too Faced website. I am a massive fan of Too Faced’s eyeshadows, and I am happy to announce that this palette does not disappoint!
You can create many different looks with the 9 shades in this palette, whether you are interested in a neutral or smokey eye look. The shades are overall very pigmented, but my favorite shades are Satin Sheets and Lap Dance because they can be built up for more drama or used lightly depending on the look you are trying to achieve.

second row of shades bottom to top: Satin Sheets, Sugar Walls, Garter Belt
third row of shades bottom to top: Birthday Suit, Lap Dance, French Tickler
The packaging of this palette is pink and perfect for all makeup lovers – as always! The palette closes with a magnetic snap and it seems pretty durable. A mirror is also included in this palette – which is a HUGE plus – and a Glamour Guide is also added to help you recreate three easy looks.
My go to look with this palette consists of the shade Satin Sheets on the lid, Fuzzy Handcuffs in the crease, and Lap Dance with a bit of Voulez-Vous or French Tickler in the outer-v. I finish off my makeup look with a sweep of In the Buff on the brow bone and a few coats of mascara. You could definitely get away with only using this palette for a variety of looks, which makes it great for travel!
I hope you enjoyed this review. If you did, please leave me a comment with your thoughts. Do you have this palette too? What do you want me to review next?
All the love x
